Ownership Options in Scotland

About us

Ownership Options is a not-for-profit organisation with specialist knowledge of the issues surrounding disabled people and homeownership in Scotland.

Our aim is to create equal access for disabled people, including people with physical or learning disabilities, to mainstream home ownership. We pioneer approaches that enable disabled people to achieve equal levels of inclusion, choice and control with non-disabled people in the housing market.

We work in three ways:

  • We directly assist disabled people by advising on the complex design, financial and legal processes involved in buying property
  • We provide training and consultancy services to organisations in the private, public and voluntary sectors to improve their ability to assist disabled homebuyers
  • We raise the awareness of the rights and opportunities relating to home ownership, providing information and lobbying to address the barriers that exist

A board of directors oversees our work, the majority of whom are disabled or representatives of organisations of disabled people.

We are registered as a charity (SC027335) and company limited by guarantee in Scotland (SC180581).
